USMC experimenting with rifles

US Marine Corp is experimenting several things and here are the most notable ones that hit the news recently

M27 trial: USMC adopted M27 IAR to have a bit more commonality between guns and lighter 5.56 machine gun. The new news is that 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines have been training with these as a part of pre-deployment excercise.

Some of draw backs mentioned in the article is the tendency to expend more ammunition and the cost of the rifle itself.

http://www.military.com/daily-news/2016/11/18/marine-corps-experimenting-new-service-rifle.html

Silencers for whole Battalion: 2nd Division is running a trial where they will put silencer on every rifle, from M4 to M2 .50 cal. This is to see if silencers can help with better communication with lower sound signature.

Youtube demonetizing Royal Nonesuch videos

Royal Nonesuch posted that Youtube started to demonetize his video due to South Korean government banning his videos.

In October, a Korean killed a responding officer with a homemade gun. Korean laws were strengthened earlier this year and any information that shows how to build a firearm are getting banned. The incident only accelerated the move.

What is unsettling is that Youtube is penalizing videos that are perfectly legal in US. Instead of blocking the video from a region, which Youtube seems to be capable of. They are penalizing certain contents, which won't have a big backlash as outright banning it.

Additionally, Mark Serbu (of Serbu Firearms) is getting similar treatment.

IPSC ranking

IPSC started in US, but can be found in  other countries as well. US has USPSA, while IPSC is the predominant outside of US and it envelopes all IPSC groups. There are some diffeence between USPSA and IPSC rules so it's hard to compare one-to-one, but IPSC decided to see who ranks where by using  the number of points actually achieved by a competitor at an IPSC Handgun World Shoot multiplied by 100 and divided by the total points available.

1911 vs 1911A1

Hickok45 goes over the difference between the two.

There are several different points, but the most prominent four are
1. Main spring housing is arched in 1911A1

4. longer grip safety tang on the 1911A1
