Japanese Type 4 Garand

This was one of last ditches of the Imperial Japan during the WW2. It is chambered for the 7.7 Japanese cartridge and several changes were made to make that happen.

Tannerite safety

David Pressley of Georgia decided to shoot 3 pounds of Tannerite placed inside a broken down lawnmower. They shot it from distance of 43 feet, resulting in a shrapnel severing his leg.



Please be careful when you are using explosives. Safety rules should be followed in any activity.

1 pound means at least 100 yards away. 3 pounds mean 300 yards.

LAV shows this interesting pistol. From personal experience, the recoil control is quite interesting. Starting from the low ready position, 9 rounds were fired as the muzzle pointed straight at the target.

Pakistan looking to upgrade its service rifle

According to Defense News, Pakistan has been looking in to upgrading its service rifle. So far they have been using H&K G3 and Chinese Type-56 copies, but they are interested in something that uses 5.56x45 mm.

Some of contenders are Beretta ARX-200, CZ-806 BREN 2, FN SCAR, Kalashnikov AK-103, and Zastava M21.

It looks like Pakistan Ordnance Factories will be working with the winner to produce the rifle domestically.

This is another shotgun from South Africa that is lesser known in US. There are some interesting things such as using 60mm shotgun shell. Some design considerations were not exactly user friendly to modern finger placement.(14:10)

USMC phasing out 3-point slings and fixed sights

US Marines are going to see changes in gears, with legacy iron sights, carrying handle, and 3-point slings to be phased out.

Iron sights and handles will still be allowed, but it will not be replaced, and will be phased out. Micro Back up iron sights will replace it.

3-point slings will meet the same fate, and 2-point slings will be used

Additional authorized gear includes:

-M7 Rifle Combat Optic with horseshoe dot reticle pattern for the M16A4 and M4 rifles
-Special Operations Peculiar Modification, or SOPMOD, buttstock assembly for the M16A4, M4, M4A1 and M27 rifles
-M9A1 pistol holsters with light for left- and right-handed shooters

Trijicon on MRO's thermal drift

Last year, EOTech had to admit some serious problem with thermal drift. Trijicon quietly addressed the issue to some customers regarding MRO.

In short, the drift was less than 1.9MOA from -51C to +71C, with one single sample going 2.2 MOA. The shift in position after temperature change from ambient to extreme, then back to ambient was 1.1 MOA on average.

Provisional Pistol Caliber Carbine division rules

USPSA posted provisional rules for a new division, Pistol Caliber Carbine(PCC)

Some points are,

  • Approved calibers: 9mm, .357SIG, .40 S&W, 10mm, .45 ACP
  • Minimum power factor: 125(minor scoring only)
  • Must have stock attached - no Sig Brace or variants.
  • No barrel length limit
  • No suppressors
  • Must have chamber flag installed when not shooting, muzzle should point up
