Asian Defence News has photos of Iran's new Fateh - Conqueror 5.56mm rifle. This seems like a copy of M4 lower and modified uppper.
Upper has charging handles on its side, and picatinny rail on top. It could possibly be a gas piston operated upper. Buttstock seems to be a copy of Magpul UBR stock.
This is not the first time Iran military has been spotted with an AR clone. A few years ago Iran Revolutionary Gurads were spotted using M16 A2 clone, possibly copied from a Norinco.

Top 5 Guns for the college bound
Iraqveteran8888 looks at 5 guns for the new college student.
Additional advice GNB would like to share.
One thing the new student will need to do is check with local law. General rule of thumb is that some college doesn't allow guns in their dorms. Some colleges allow empty guns in trunk or case, but not CCW, and the student needs to double check. In some states, using or possession of pepper spray or Taser can be problematic.
Read the housing contract and student code(usually found in catalog). If it is not feasible, might want to consider living in apartments not owned by college.
Also, learning marksmanship as well as defensive shooting training should help. (Parents should help their children learn safety from early on). Guns are exceptional defense tool, but that doesn't mean the student should forego other measures.

Sight-Tracker Drill
Mike Pannone has a new drill up
Description:
8 shots slide lock reload and 8 more on 6", 8" square, 6"x11" A-zone and 1/4 size IPSC @ 10 yards. 7.97 clean. 6" plate must be shot first, after that it's shooters choice. I call it the Sight-Tracker drill. Virginia count, mandatory slide lock reload and the par time is 8 seconds. You have no chance of shooting it clean if you're not tracking your sights on every shot. I used different sizes and much smaller steel than you usually see to force legit accuracy at speed and force a changing acceptable sight picture and cadence. I threw in a slide lock reload because it makes you touch everything of consequence on the gun. 8 seconds clean is a USPSA hit factor of 10.

XM-3 Sniper Rifle auction
Civilian Marksmanship Program is auctioning XM-3 Sniper Rifle. This was used by DARPA to come up with lighter sniper rifle than M40 while improving accuracy.
Some of the requirements were;
clip-on night vision that did not require re-zero, better optics, and better stock, and it had to be suppressed. The barrel had to be short enough to allow maneuverability yet long enough to deliver a 10” group at 1,000 yards
18" barrels had no problem performing along with 20" barrels. There were XM-3s made but this rifle seems to be only one that is available for non-military ownership.
The package also includes
Scope SN: Q04961; Sniper Data Book with some firing information; PVS22 Night Vision Device SN: 2896D (mounting fastener is broken, seems as though it can be repaired; refer to picture); appears complete tool/cleaning kit with cleaning rod; sling; suppressor case and wrap; SUPPRESSOR NOT INCLUDED; bipod; cold bore shot target; instructions; iM3200 Storm case

GNB: H&K VP9 review
This is not the first time H&K made a striker-fired pistol(last being P7) made of polymer(last being VP-70). However since the USP line became the main model for H&K pistols, the rule seemed to be a polymer frame with hammer. Subsequent designs(P2000, HK45, and P30) all followed such rule.
Fast foward about 25 years or so, the market warmed up to striker-fired pistols and is now the norm thanks to proliferation of Glocks and others. With the change in market, H&K had to adapt, and this is their offering.
When you first open the case, it comes with 2 sets of side panels, 2 sets of backstrap, an extra magazine(LE version comes with 2 extra magazines), gun, and other goodies it comes with. The gun itself looks like a cousin of P30, or as one my friend so eloquently stated, "bastard of a one-night stand between a P30 and Walther PPQ."
The basic version comes with glow-in dark sights that light up as bright green glow when you apply some lights. Personal experience says that a 5 second application of a 50 lumen light is good enough to keep the glow on for about a few minutes. LE version comes with tritium sights made by Meprolights(Truglo)
There is nothing much to say about the cosmetics, and the real fun begins when you actually shoot.
